Kinja'd!!!

So I called around and there are three pest control places in my area. I was only able to reach one; $100 inspection fee and $290 to remove squirrels, other animals are different prices. *sigh*.

Also, that price tag is for fixing up two entry points. And apparently this is baby squirrel season, and I’m pretty sure there’s more than one up there, so if you capture just the mom, the babies will die and decompose, stinking the house up.

The best time to capture them would be the middle of the day, which is when I’m usually busy, otherwise I’d take a whack at removing them. Ugh....owning a house adds up...

How difficult is it to grab them in a Havahart? I’ve only had to deal with groundhogs but it wasn’t too bad.

Well if there’s one thing I’ve learned about squirrels from the internet, it’s that kiddie pools will kill all of them.

Probably easy, but if the babies are newborns, they won't leave the nest easily.

Put a kiddie pool in the backyard?

I had bats. At least squirrels don't fly around your house in the middle of the night.

no, people should get paid for their work. I don’t like hiring them. I’d rather do it myself

Look up PVC squirrel traps, you can make them yourself for a few buck, zip tie them near their entry hole (which should be easy to find, and when you have the bugger caught, just hold the pipe up to your car exhaust for a few minutes and you have a dead squirrel! As for the babies, just find a way to crawl up there and shop-vac them. Sometimes you can even see the nest from the entry hole, so you can nail them through that.

Well id start if with holes... (Durrrrrr). Shut off the lights and look for outside light coming in. Check soffit vents ridge vents all perimeters

A couple of live traps from tractor supply should do the trick. My son has made a sport of catching rabbits that are after our garden. The big dog also loves to chase small animals. We had a problem with squirrels coming after our pecans until the big dog moved in. Woof.

If you go up there during the day, you should see daylight coming thru wherever there’s a space for them to get in. If they hear or see you they will scurry outside. Which is easier than trapping them, and the perfect time to seal the entry. Take a good look around to make sure there’s no nest with babies though.

Will your town’s animal control do it for you? We had the same problem, town took care of it no charge.

If you make it unpleasant enough in the attic, with bright lights and constant noise, the squirrel will find another home for her babies on her own.
I had a problem with a bat in my attic, so I set up an infrared security camera with wifi. I knew the general area it was hiding in, so I pulled back all the pink insulation from between the rafters and pointed the camera in that general direction. I also knew the approximate time it would start scrabbling around each evening before it went out to eat, so I started watching the computer each evening and it only took a few nights to get the time, location, and finally, the exact place it was coming in and out, and the corresponding spot on the outside of the house. I set up a ladder leaning up against the house with a spotlight on the hole..
On the big night, I watched it start to go for the hole, and I ran outside, climbed the ladder and watched it come out. The light disoriented it for a couple of minutes, but it took off in search of food. I filled the opening with caulk, a layer of window screen I had already cut to fit, and then that canned foam insulation home depot sells. Never heard another noise from my attic.
Long story short, find where it’s coming in and out, find the nest, and start the light/noise attack, they should leave shortly after that. If the momma squirrel leaves without the young-ns, pick them up with gloves and put them outside near the hole. The momma should collect them and move them when she comes back to check on them. But it’s more likely she will move them on her own if you make it uncomfortable enough up there.
A dollars worth of my 2 cents...

There is another alternative...you could put a cat up there for a couple days.

Get a cat, put it up in the attic. Problem solved.
